Stamped Canvas Resist

Hi All!

It's Jodi here with a fun easy tutorial for you using sticky-back canvas, Distress Paint  and Distress Stains. I'll be using the  "Mermaid Treasure" set for my art.

Okay, so here's what you need to do this technique:
A craft sheet, various Distress Stains (medium to dark colors work best - I used Broken China, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean and Dusty Concord), light colored Distress Paint (I used Peeled Paint, Picket Fence and Spun Sugar), sticky back canvas (by Ranger) and a spritz bottle with water.

First, take your Distress Paint and apply it directly to the stamp and stamp it onto the canvas. The paint dries pretty quick, but you can hurry it along a bit using a heat tool. The Distress Paint will cause a resist with the stains.

Next, making sure the paint is dry, use the spritz bottle with water and get the canvas good and wet. This will help the Distress Stains bleed together better. Use the Distress Stain on the whole canvas, including the stamped image.

You can blot off the stains a bit if you want it to look a little more faded, otherwise use the heat tool or let it dry naturally.

I added some bubble with a transparent Viva Decor pen as well as some ribbon and other little goodies to make it a bookmark.

And you're finished! Hope you decide to give it a try yourself.

Until Next Time!

Hitting the Beach

Hi All!

School's almost out, and the weather is finally starting to feel warm like it should this time of the year. Perfect for this week's Dare to be Sassy Thursday challenge - Hitting the Beach! Now, you may find this hard to believe, but I have not been to the beach. I don't count 10 minutes in Monterrey Bay and the lake doesn't count either. Ahh, someday. But today my Sassy Design is at the beach! I used Sarong Sassy for my beachin' card (sorry, couldn't resist.)

She's colored with Copics as is the crazy wave background - I stamped that with Hero Arts Neon Blue and colored it in, I know I must be insane coloring all those swirls, but it looks really cool. I also used the A2 Deckled Edge die by Spellbinders.

So now it's your turn to Dare to be Sassy with us this week. Use a Sassy Studio Designs image (bonus points!) and create a beach themed project. Make sure you link up with us on the Sassy Studio Designs blog and maybe you'll be a winnah!

I'd also like to enter my sassy chic in the following challenges:

It's a Banner Day!

Hi All!

Like that won't be used a bunch! It's the last Wednesday of the month, an especially fun day for us Bombshell Girls because that means it's a Hop Day! This month's theme is Banners. Use the pre-fabbed banners that come with many of the Bombshell Stamp Sets, or create some of your own banners to embellish your creations. You can even make a banner as your project!

I used Lucky Bride and Banner Sayings for my project. I don't usually shoot my cards with a flash, but the cardstock I used had a pretty purple/pink shimmer to it that went with the way I colored her, so I wanted to show it off. I also used the Timeless Rectangles dies by Spellbinders for the background.

Now on with the show! Here's the hop list:
