Christmas - Anything But A Card

Hi All!

It's Dare to be Sassy Thursday! This week's challenge is to create something Christmasy other than a card. I created an ornament using Santa Pin-up.

She's colored with Copics using R35, R37, R39, V28, E20, E21, E23, E51, E53, E55, E000, E01, E02, N5, N7 and N9. The background is an acetate snowflake that I embossed with my Cuttlebug and added some Rock Candy Distress Stickles. The snowflake is colored with Adirondack ink.

So what are you going to create? Let's see it! Make something Christmas related that isn't a card and post it using the inlinkz on the Dare to be Sassy Thursday post on the blog to win fabulo9us prizes!

This will be my last Dare to be Sassy Thursday post, I'm movin on to Fabulous Freebie Fridays - I know you'll want to get in on that!

Have fun and good luck!

Recipe Hop

Hi All!

Okay, I know what you;'re thinking. No, we aren't cooking, at least not with food. It's time to announce the November Hump Day Hop! Since many of us are getting ready to think about cooking for Thanksgiving, we thought it would be fun to have a recipe challenge!
Ingredients:
3 Patterned Papers
2 Bombshell Stamps images
1 Piece of Ribbon

That's a pretty easy recipe...even for me! Of course, you can add extra elements, but let's let the 3 ingredients I mentioned take center stage.

So here's my recipe, I used Bombshell Angel, Sacred Heart and Banner Sayings stamp sets.

Of course I colored her with Copics, R35, R37, R39, E000, E01, E02, E40, E42 and E44.The printed paper is DCWV and Tim Holtz.

Now it's your turn to join us. Leave some love and visit all our hoppers for a chance to win a set all your own!

Have fun and good luck!

Until Next Time,

Splattered Stains

Hi All!

Okay, I know you're all probably out doing your Black Friday shopping, but I know once you re-cooperate, grab some coffee and have some creative, somewhat messy fun. You'll even get to take out a little of your shopping frustration! Welcome to my Distress Stains Splattered tutorial :-)

Here's what you'll need:

A craft sheet, various colors of Distress Satins (I used seedless preserves, shaded lavender and dusty concord), cardstock, a water brush or some sort of paintbrush, Distress Ink (I used walnut stain) and a foam blending tool. (You might also want to wear an apron or something you don't mind getting ink on.)

First I usually shake up my stains (not sure you need to). Take off the lid and squeeze the sides a bit. This will help get the ink up into the dauber. Now comes the fun part... smash it down onto the cardstock. The harder you do it the more it splatters.  Use different colors and let them mix and overlap.

Now that you have your big splatters, you need some little ones. I usually test out my stain on the craft sheet to make sure it's juicy. Take advantage of the puddles that are left and load up a paint brush with some of that color and flick it onto your cardstock. Now you'll have some nice little speckles to go with the splatters. I like to used the water brush because the Distress Stains will react with it and it'll look somewhat distressed.

Finally, I like to take the foam blender with a brown color and distress the edges. It makes it look more grungy and vintage.

And tadda! Here's the finished pieces. I used Sacred Heart for my main art, available of course from the fabulous ladies at Bombshell Stamps. Enjoy!

Fabric or Felt

Happy Thanksgiving All!

And welcome to another edition of Dare to be Sassy Thursday! This week our challenge is to use fabric or felt on our projects. Being that I don't have either per say, I used several different fabric ribbons and an image from the new release, Snowman Pin-Up.

Blue was my favorite color apparently. I used B21, B23, B24, B26, B28 on her outfit, boots, scarf and hat, B0000, B000, B00 and B01 for her hair. I tried to make her skin a bit more pale, so I use E000, E00 and E01. Frosty mama! As I said, I used ribbon for my fabric, even the white single snowflakes are ribbon, I just cut them apart. I also took Versamark to the edges of the white base and used Bridal White Tinsel embossing powder by Ranger to add some more subtle sparkle.

Now let's see what you can do! Check out what the design team has cooked up and get inspired. Use felt, fabric or both on your project and a Sassy image for good measure and make sure you add your project to the inlinkz on the Dare to be Sassy Thursday post for your opportunity to win!

Again, Happy Turkey Day!

Confessions

Good Morning All!

Welcome to Bombshell Stamps November challenge!  Today is False Confessions Day.  Ms. November thought it would be fun to have confessions on projects, but who likes a false confession?  For this challenge she wants to see what your TRUE confession is.  It can be as saucy or tame as you want. This truly was a challenge for me. This probably wouldn't be a very exciting confession really. (I'm kinda boring LOL) I'm a closet fashion freak. I watch Project Runway, Project Runway All-Stars, Project Accessory, Mad Fashion, I used to watch Fashion TV when it used to be on VH1. I watch all the re-runs. I had Fashion Plates as a kid. When I went to vocational school for commercial art,  I drew a lot of fashion type pieces in my spare time. I wanted to me a fashion illustrator for a time (I did get to do a bit of that when I got out of art school for an advertising agency). Some of my favorite artists are very fashionable - Patrick Nagel, Oliva, and Vargas to name a few. I love to see the sketches the designers come up with. I myself however, am not fashionable in the least. I'm happy with my "mom" jeans and a graphic tee. You'd never guess it to look in my closet.

There. Confession made.

Here's my fashionable project:

I used Bombshell Angel and dressed her up in digital Evening Bombshell clothes. (I think those tend to be my favorite outfits for her) I used B12, B14, B16, E000, E01, E02, E51, E53, E55 to color her. Just to be clear - I would never dress anyone in that plaid, but I loved the colors. LOL

Now it's your turn, check out the other "confessions" that the fabulous Bombshells have created - show us your confession, post it to the inlinkz at the bottom of the post and you could win a stamp set!

Oh no! I almost forgot! Tip Top Tuesday has a new challenge right now as well - the theme is Kids/Teens.  We want to see creations featuring the younger generation. Go to the blog to check out the rules and to link your project. They've got lots of goodies to give to the winner!

I was asked to be a guest designer for this challenge. I used Ice Skate Kate by Kenny K.

Okay, now I'm done - I swear. :-)

Sassy Christmas and the Joy of Giving

Hi All!

Can you believe Christmas is just around the corner!? (Ugh!) There's lots going on today... First up we have this week's Kenny K's Krafty Krew Challenge - Sassy Christmas, saucy cards for that special guy or gal. You can have a lot of fun with that!

I used Mistletoe for my design:

Here's her recipe:
Hair: E11, E13, E15, E17
Skin: E000, E01, E02
Gloves and eyes: G12, G14
Suit: R35, R37, R39
I used N3, N5, N7, N9 on her stockings and boots.

Now it's your turn - create a sassy Christmas card and post it on the Krafty Krew blog in the inlinkz. You could win prizes from Kenny K and Crafty Ribbons!Good Luck

This is a very cheeky post today I must say - in keeping with the theme, Sassy Studio Designs is having a new release this weekend. If you saw the Dare to be Sassy Thursday post, you got a little sneaky peek! Saturday and Sunday we're having a release hop. Here's the details:

The Joy Of Giving

Lindsay made some fantastic images celebrating Christmas in all the right ways!
And I am sure you are going to want each and every one of them!

We are going to change it up a bit this time around....
just to keep you on your toes...
and have added just a picture of each member's project with a link to their blog.

The challenge is VINTAGE OR SHABBY CHIC...
AND at the end of tomorrows post we will have the linky for you to add your
project should you chose to join us!

The definition of vintage is:

Too old to be considered modern, but not old enough to be considered antique. Often used to describe items for sale online such as ebay auctions or craigslist posts though may also be found in printed listings such as classified ads. Can also be a euphemism for "heavily used" items

Retro, recently out of style with potential to make a comeback

The definition of shabby chic is:

the use of used, worn, or inexpensive components to make stylish goods

Something (maybe someone, i.e., Joan Collins) that's rather worn out/tattered yet has a touch of understated class
So break out your traditional Christmas papers, let your romantic side out, or use those distress inks that have been sitting in a drawer!

So, for my vintage creation, I used  All Wrapped Up from the new release.

Since I went with the vintage theme, I colored her in Sepia tones (E30, E31, E33, E34, E35, E37). The paper is all Tim Holtz as is the gem clip and metal tag. The sticker is by Reminisce. I sprayed everything with cappuccino Perfect Pearl spray to ad a bit of sparkle.

Okay, now I think I've given you plenty to do LOL. I look forward to seeing your creations!

Until Next Time,

Brrrrrr

Good Morning All!

It's Dare to be Sassy Thursday! This week's challenge is make your creation without pattern paper. I used Frostina for my image. The big freaky snow flakes I saw earlier this week inspired me to make a flaky card (LOL). I embossed an acetate card by Hero Arts with the snowflake embossing folder by Cuttlebug and airbrushed it a little around the edges with B02 Copic. The die-cut snowflakes are by Spellbinders.

The coloring recipe is as follows:
Skin: E000, YR00, E21
Hair: E97, E11, YR14, E08
Hat: BV000, BV02, BV04, BV08
The hat band and scarf: RV52, RV55, V15
Outfit: B000, B00, B01

Now it's your turn! Design something fabulous (use a gorgeous Sassy Studio Designs image) and add your creation to the inlinkz at the bottom of the DTBST post on the blog. Check out all the fun, fabulous things going on at Sassy Studio Designs while you're there. There's a new release blog hop Saturday AND Sunday, here's a little sneaky peek:

Hmmmm.... what do ya think??? You'll have to wait til Saturday to check them out in all their glory. Come back to see my creation on Sunday.

As if that's not enough, there's a Guest Design Team member call now thru November 25th. Check the blog for all the details.

Good luck!

Sparkly Snowflakes

Hi All, Good Sunday Morning!

Hope everyone is doing well. It's time for a Kenny K's Krafty Krew Challenge! This week....Sparkly Snowflakes - wintry sparkles all around! Now, I know no one wants to think about that right now, but just think about how fun and festive it can be, besides it's the perfect excuse to break out the bling!

I use Elf Queen for my creation, I thought she looked like she could be in charge of some snowy sparkle.

Miss Elf Queen is wearing the latest in Copic colors, blues, blue greens and violets. All the keen elves are wearing them this winter season. I added a few snowy flourishes by Close To My Heart. Her dress is colored over with clear Spica to give it some extra sparkle.

Now, you know what comes next. Check out the beautiful snowy creations submitted by the Kenny K Design Team and be inspired! There's some absolutely fabulous work over there. Make sure to post your own sparkly creation in the inlinks to be eligible to win prizes by

Season of Thanks

Hi All!

Happy All Saints Day! (for those of you who celebrate it). Welcome to another addition of Dare To Be Sassy Thursday with Sassy Studio Designs. I had a lot of fun with this one, I did a little twist with the fall colors. I used Little Honey's Briar Rose Honey on this, and changed up her dress color. I really like the way orange, teal and brown go together, I think I saw this combo on some Bo Bunny fall paper from a year or so ago and loved it, that's how I got "Count Your Blessings":

I'm so happy with the way she turned out! She's colored with Copics of course, Using YR61, YR65, YR68, YR12, YR14, YR18, BG11, BG13, BG15, BG45, her skin is E000, E01, E02 and her hair is Y21, Y23, E31, E34. The leaves are also colored with Copics (the set is Leaves by Hero Arts), I colored them using the same orange and yellow, but added R14 and R17. The background is stamped with the same leaves but I used Memento Potter's Clay ink. The sentiment is by Close To My Heart.

It's your turn to play along and maybe even win a prize! Leave some love and the inlink to your project. I can't wait to see what you all come up with!

Until Next Time,
