Holly!

I've been so bad lately, the craziness doesn't seem to end. Now that Santa Shop is over for my daughter's school, I can get to work on more pressing things - like making cards! This week we will be working on a card using the Holly stamp by Hero arts. This is somewhat of a "invisible line" coloring project as we will have the image stamped in a color very close to the actual Copic colors used. The color combo is a bit different as well. We'll be using G82, G24, BG78, B000, R25 and R27. I've become quite fond of outlining my art with a very subtle color that fades into the white of the paper, it tends to make it stand out a bit more. So now you have a reason to get the 000 and 0000 colors. :-) Those colors will be coming up again next month as we will be coloring objects that are white. I know it sounds funny. Anyway, there's still time to sign up for class, so if you can join us! Give us a call at 833-2600 or leave me a message here and we'll get you taken care of.
Until next time, have a very Merry Christmas and a fabulous New Year!

"Letterpress" Christmas

Tim Holtz's Texture Fades, stamp set, and Holly die.

Hello Everyone, I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving, ate lots of turkey and pumpkin pie and got some of the goodies you were looking for on your Christmas list. I finally got everything I needed to get my sample together for December's Technique Class. This is a fun and very easy little technique to do and it looks very professional when you're done. We'll be using the Tim Holtz's new Christmas Texture Fades, his Seasonal Silhouettes stamp set, Distress Inks, Crackle Paint and Grunge Paper. (Love me some grunge paper - I haven't gotten to use it in a while!) There's still room in class and we're trying something a little different in December - class will be in the afternoon, Tuesday, December 6th at 12:30 instead of the evening, so all you folks that have wanted to come but couldn't do an evening, come on out and have fun with us in the afternoon! Give the great gals at Scrap 'N Friends a buzz @ 833-2600 and we'll get you signed up for class and as always, the Distress Inks, stamp set, texture fades, etc. are all 20% off with the class. And of course, feel free to pass this along to folks you know that might be interested.
And being that is almost December Tim Holtz will be starting his 12 tags of Christmas - so be watching! If you see something you want to learn how to do, let me know, I'm sure it can be arranged! I'll be getting a lot of ideas...
Hope to see you soon!

Leaves and Twine

Howdy everyone!
I know baker's twine is all the rage right now (well, besides Tim Holtz seasonal color sets! How cool are they?!) In our November Copic class, we'll be making our own custom colored "baker's twine" and well as some easy color blending on Hero Arts' "Real Leaves" stamp set. Copic markers make it incredibly easy to coordinate embellishments to match whatever project you may be working on, which is not only fun but will save you money. It's great to be able to buy clear rhinestones, white pearls, brad and buttons and make them whatever color you need them. Same goes for white ribbon. No more hunting to find embellishments to match what your doing - all you need are Copics!
We'll be using Y32, Y35, Y38, Y13, YR07, R27 and E08 for our beautiful fall cards. Class will be Tuesday, November 22 at either 12:30 or 6:00 p.m. There's still some room available, so give Scrap 'N Friends a call at 833-2600 or send me a message here and we'll get you signed up. You'll also get 20% off the stamp set, and the markers when you take the class.
Hope you will join me!
Until next time,
Jodi

Thanksgiving Leaves

Holy cow right?! We're almost half-way thru October (bummer). We had a fun messy time in our "Spooky Gate" class on Monday. Thanks to everyone that made it. In November, we'll get just as messy with Glassine paper, Distress Stains, Distress Inks and Texture Fades. It's a very Timmy Thanksgiving. LOL We'll be making this gorgeous Fall card using all of the above. It's easy, fun and BEAUTIFUL! You could use them as a simple greeting card, a Thanksgiving invitation or even a place card to fancy up your table. This technique as with all of my technique classes can also be applied to scrapbook pages. The leaves and the distressing lend themselves beautifully to fall pages. I'd like you to keep that in mind the next time you're looking at the card I've posted for a class. You may say to yourself that you aren't really a card maker - here's a secret - neither am I! (Although since Copics came into my life I've done a lot more here lately.) But keep in mind, You can use these ideas on scrapbook pages, altered objects and decorations. So please, don't pass up some creative fun just because it's a card. It's just easier to teach in a shorter amount of time. ;-)
The class is Tuesday, November 15th @ 6:00 and it only cost $3, plus you get 20% off the products we used for the class. If you aren't already signed up, give us a buzz at Scrap 'N Friends at 833-2600 and we'll get you taken care of. I'll make room for you!
Until next time,
Jodi

Scary Pumpkins

Happy Fall Ya'll! Ladies - we will be giving the Copic Airbrush System a whirl this month! That being said, we'll only be doing one card - it will be an acrylic card. It would take an insane amount of time to try to do two and I want you to be able to play around with it a little bit as well. I decided to used a Tim Holtz Flourish Mask for the airbrushing bit (you know me and flourishes). We will be coloring some wonderfully spooky little pumpkins to go on our card as well. Markers used are YR12, YR14, YR16, Y00, Y02, and Y06. We'll be using a C9 in the airbrush. All of this is available thru Scrap 'N Friends in Brookville and you'll get 20% off items used in class, including markers if you take the class which is... Monday evening, October 24th @ 6:00 and Tuesday afternoon, October 25th @12:30. This class can not be kitted because of the the airbrushing, so sign up! (Give us a call at the store - 833-2600) There's a few spots left and we always have a frightfully good time!
Until next time!

Spooky Gate

Arrrrggg, Good Mornin' to ya all, I missed talked like at pirate day yesterday, so there's my little shout out to it. I can't believe we're almost to October! I know they say the older you get the quicker time goes, but come on! We've already good my daughter's costume for Halloween. She's ready to put the Halloween decorations up, I'm not quite there yet.
The October Technique class I'll be doing uses Distress Inks, a brayer and heat embossing. It's a lot of fun to use the brayer, you never get the same thing twice and it won't be perfect. That's okay because I don't want it to be. The cool stamp is Metal Flourish from Hero Arts. I thought it looked like it belonged in front of the Adams Family's house. The pumpkins are die cuts from Spellbinders - love, love love them! This would be a great card to make for a party invite, I know you may not traditionally sent a Halloween card, but it sure if fun makin them.
The class is Monday, October 10 @ 6:00 and the cost is $3. Anything class related (distress inks, brayer, stamp etc.) is 20% off the night of the class. So, give Scrap 'N Friends a call or leave a comment here to sign up for class. It'll be a spooky fun time!

Also, for my fellow Copic fanatics out there, Copic Color (Copic's art community - like Facebook) is having a 6 color challenge. There's an image to download and you color it using only 6 colors - I know what you're thinking, but it can be done! It's challenging, but fun. Entries must be posted on the Copic Facebook page by Sept. 23rd. If you aren't on the Copic Color community, check it out. There's lots of different art to see, everything from Fine art to Paper Crafting. Also, you can keep track of your collection - there's even an app for smart phones so you can take your collection with you and know what colors you need to get!

Until next time!

You Make The Grade

Hello (I need my daughter here - she does a great Heidi Klum impression),
Anywho, here we are almost mid-way through September! Yikes! Our fun Copic coloring class is coming up here before too long...Tuesday, Sept. 27 in the afternoon and Wednesday, Sept. 28th @ 6:00 in evening. I know it seems like a big ol' list of markers that you need, but if you've been joining us in past classes chances are, you'll have everything you need with the exception of the E00, E01, E02 and the adorable stamps set "You Make the Grade" by My Favorite Things. If you're not sure, the other colors you'll need are E13, E15, E17, C7, C9, RV21, RV23, and RV25. I know several of you have been asking about coloring people, so here ya go! We needed to build up our Copic collections a bit first - besides, what fun would it be to just color flesh - you need to be able to color the clothes and hair too. That would just be weird. I used the notebook Tim Holtz Texture fade as well as some fun new paper by Cosmo Cricket. Just a reminder there are 2 classes on 2 different days - Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday evening. I hope to see you at one! Contact me here on the blog and leave a comment or give us a buzz at Scrap 'N Friends at 833-2600.
Until next time,
Jodi

Shrinky Dinks and Copics

My good friend Ann asked me a while back if I had tried  using my Copics on Shrinky Dinks - my answer - "Yes, yes I have." I tend to like anything that revolves around using my heat gun and yes, you can shrink those puppies with a heat gun! It's waaaaay more fun than watching it thru the oven door, plus you can help it flatten out better. Anyway, when I did my little experiment, I used some white shrinky dink stuff you could send thru an inkjet printer. (Clear would be fun for a sun-catcher look) Now that said, you have to be careful about coloring. I purposely stayed away from the black when I colored. I wasn't taking any chances. I know you can stamp with Stays-On etc., but I think, especially being a slick surface, I would still try not to get too close to the black lines. I also found that if you can us a digi stamp for this, depending on what you want to use the end result for, you can start out much bigger. A stamped image is going to get pretty small. You can see the size I started with and what I ended with in the photo. Being that you are working on a smooth surface, you can't really do any blending with your Copics. When you first start coloring you will notice that even a dark color seems pretty light. Don't let it fool you. When you shrink it down the colors will be much more intense. In some cases much brighter than on paper. These particular digi stamps came from The Greeting Farm (one of my favs), Soccer Anya - I made this for my daughter to put on her backpack zipper and Chibi Spain. So, if you get a chance to experiment with Copics and Shrinky Dinks it is a lot of fun. You could make ornaments, embellishments, even earrings!
Give it a try - you know you want to....
Until next time,
Jodi

Paper Flowers

Ahhhh, here we are almost to fall - my favorite time of year. I know you don't typically think of flowers for fall, but you can use these flowers anytime of year. These are easy to make, can be made any size and don't require a bunch of fancy dies to create. Once you start, you'll have so much fun making them, you'll have a whole bouquet before you know it!
We'll be creating our flowers Wednesday, September 14th at 6:00. Please bring scissors and adhesive. Give us a call at Scrap 'N Friends at 833-2600, email me at jelamdesign@frontier.com or leave me a comment here and we'll get you all signed up. It's only $3 to make this beautiful card, so make your reservation early.
I'm also still taking class suggestions - what would you like to learn how to do? Is there a technique you've wanted to try, but not sure how to go about it? Is there some fabulous new product that you've seen some gorgeous cards made with and want to give them a go? Let me know! I'm always up for a challenge! Chances are it's something I've wanted to teach but had thought of in a while. And besides, if it's messy, you KNOW I want to try it!
Have a great week!
Until next time,
Jodi

Heads Up!

Hi All!
I wanted to give everyone that has, as of now, signed up for the Tuesday, August 30th Copic class. We may need to move it to Monday. My daughter's soccer season has started and I completely forgot that there is a possibility that she could have a game on Tuesday evenings. We haven't gotten the schedule yet as soon as I do, I'll let everyone know what's happening. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she won't have a game the evening so we don't have to change anything. I'll have dates for Setpember classes then as well. If you've signed up for the afternoon class nothing has changed for you.
Remember to keep your fingers crossed!
Until next time!

So Fresh

Holy Cow! It's almost August already and school will be back in session again. Where has the summer gone? Copic class for August is actually at the end of the month, that gives you plenty of time to look at your schedules and sort out some YOU time to come have fun with us in class.

We'll be concentrating a bit more on blending and shading in August with the "Simply the Best" stamp set by Hero Arts. You could make some fruity little invites for a BBQ or family reunion! You'll need R32, R35, R37, YG21, YG23, YG25, RV21, RV23 and RV25. Copic Marker is raising their prices starting August 1st, that said, if you sign up for the class by July 29th and order the markers you need, you will get 20% off the lower price. After August 1st, the price will go up about 50 cents a marker - which still isn't bad considering you don't have to replace your marker when it runs out of ink. Speaking of which, we will be creating a "punch card" for you collectors to get your beloved colors refilled (you know there's just certain colors you use like crazy!). Card will be a purchase 6 refills and get the 7th FREE. Refills are only $2 and can be done in a day or less at Scrap 'N Friends.
So, I hope I haven't overwhelmed you. I look forward to seeing you in class - don't miss out on the fun!
Until next time,
Jodi

Spritz Board Class

Here it is as promised! It's nice and shimmery. When we do the class you don't have to use the dragonfly, as you'll have 24 different shapes to choose from (there's a birdhouse that would be cute as well), but we will be using this color scheme more or less. I used Smooch and Smooch Spritz on this project as well as one of Tim Holtz's new Texture Fades on the cardstock and one of my new favorite things Viva Decor Pens! Again, this is another card that looks like it takes a lot of work to make but it doesn't. The Spritz Board makes it a lot easier.
I hope you can come join us in our shimmery fun! The class is Tuesday, August 16 at 6:00 - Scrap 'N Friends in Brookville. You can contact me here or at jelamdesign@frontier.com or the store at 833-2600 to reserve your spot.
You don't want to miss all the fun!

Just A Taste

Hi All!
The Kraft Glassine Class was a blast Tuesday evening - thanks to everyone that decided to come play. I hope you had as much fun as I did.
I mentioned in class that in August we would be using Hampton Art's Spritz Board. The boards are versatile, you can use them on cards or scrapbook layouts, altered projects - just about anything really. The sample is my Easter "shadow box" layout using Graphic 45's "Once Upon A Springtime" paper line (Love it!) The large butterfly is a Spritz Board from the Icon box. I inked this one over with light blue Powder Puff (the color name escapes me right now). You get the cool look of resist on chipboard without all the steps. I'm hoping to have the class sample done here VERY soon. I'll post it as soon as I do.
The Spritz Board Class will be Tuesday, August 16 @ 6:00 p.m. The cost is $6/1 card, however, you get the entire box of Spritz Boards included in the class - 24 different shapes to choose from.
Give us a call at Scrap 'N Friends (937) 833-2600 and sign up for the fun!

Kraft Glassine

This stuff is sooooo cool and there's all sorts of things you can do with it. You can emboss it, color it with alcohol inks - which also means you can color on it with Copic markers, stamp it - I could go on and on. We'll be doing a few techniques with the glassine in Technique Class. It's beautiful inky fun! We'll be using Tim Holtz Distress Stains and Distress Inks, Antique Writing Stamp by Hero Arts, Viva Paint Pearls and of course Tim Holtz Kraft Glassine. Once you start playing with it, you'll have all sorts of ideas of other ways to use it on cards and scrapbook pages. There's still room to join our party Tuesday, July 12th at 6:00. All supplies are available thru Scrap 'N Friends and if you talk the class, you'll get 20% Off! Give us a call at the store - 833-2600, shoot us an email, leave a comment here or feel free to email me at jelamdesign@frontier.com to join us in the fun! Hope to see you there!
Until next time,
Jodi

On Fish, Two Fish

Aren't they cute?! Since it's summer, I've been working outside my box and creating projects that aren't people. I hadn't worked on a fishes, let alone crabs, so I figured I oughtta. I found these little guys on Inkadinkadoo. (I'm starting to see a pattern here...) They're even called "cute fish". We're going to color 'em with our fabulous Copics, give 'em some texture with the Copic Colorless Blender and bling them up with Spikas! We'll top the designs off with some Dew Drops. Class is Tuesday, July 26th - you can take either the 12:30 or 6:00 class and it's only $5 to make both cards. The the colors required for class are YR04, YR07, BG15, Y13, Y15, Colorless Blender, YG03 and YG05. The markers and the stamp set can be purchased for 20% off when you take the class. We have tons of fun, so I hope you'll give us a call at Scrap 'N Friends (833-2600) to sign up and join us.

I'm hoping to have the card design for our regular technique class (using Kraft Glassine) on Monday - it's pretty popular stuff and has been back ordered for a bit, but I should have it later this week.

Have a terrific 4th of July!

Until Next Time!

Who Says Part 2

Good Afternoon To You All!

I know I already posted about using Copics for things other than cards, and this posting is in the vein. It's actually a bit of a testament to the versatility of the digital stamp as well. I can print those little puppies whatever size I want pretty much which is what I did for the scrapbooking layout I did below. I colored her in and put her on my page - isn't she cute? She's acid free and scrapbook save! (After the alcohol in the ink evaporates, it's all good. I know going from cards to scrapbooks is not much of a stretch by any means, but I want all my scrappy friends out there to know it can be done. I like to use the digital stamps in layouts because I can make them an embellishment to fit anywhere - big or small, but there are plenty of stamps out there that are big enough just the way they are to use in a layout. I'll post them as they get done. So that said enjoy and keep stamps and Copic colored images in mind for your next layout!

Coming soon: A preview of July's Copic Tech Class - One Fish, Two Fish!

Until next time,
Jodi

This little cute is Soccer Anya from one of my favs, The Greeting Farm

This was a blast - Jenna attended Crew Camp last Spring - she got to practice her skeelz with members of the Columbus Crew Major League Soccer team.

Ahhh

Howdy Ya'll - (something I swore I would never say and now I use it way too much!) I think I've finally recuperated from my Disney Vacation. Lots of fun but very exhausting. Now I have to get my pictures taken care and get busy on pages. I have to sort thru about 700 pictures (which seem like a small amount to me considering we were gone a week.) and get that number done to something manageable. Of course I'll get those whittled down and have to weed out more after they're printed. They definitely treat you well down there at Disney. Although I have to say if I see someone on a rascal it'll be too soon - my apologizes if I offend. I have to say, they were some of the rudest folks down there. Face it - it's summer, one of the busiest times down there, we're all there to see everything and have fun, us folks on foot are just trying to get around just like you, so there's no need to be rude and nasty if someone turns and steps in front of you by accident. I would also appreciate not being run over and given dirty looks because I don't move as fast as your groovy little scooter. because of the heat and the scooters, I have to say there were times that that "Happiest  Place On Earth" was the "Grouchiest Place On Earth". While I'm on the subject why do you bring a teeny tiny newborn baby to Disney and wait in line (in the sun mind you) to get photos and autographs with Disney characters? Really? I have to tell you, but they won't remember it - I however will remember you trying to run me down with your baby stroller so you can try to cut in line. I know, I know. I don't sound like I had a good time. Really I did! Star Wars weekend rocked! We rode Star Tours 3 times - that my friends is how Star Wars is meant to be viewed, in motion and in 3D. I have to say Hyperspace Hoopla is hilarious - much more so in person than watching it on Youtube.
Anyway, I'll get back to the artwork next week. Until then have a great weekend!

Who Says

Who says Copics are just for coloring stamps - you can do fine art with them as well! (I'm sure you all already knew that). They were originally created for comic artists in Japan (manga), so it's only natural that they would be fabulous for artwork as well. These are a couple small sketches I did recently from some art I drew and had scanned into the computer. They aren't very big - approx. 5x7ish. I printed them from my inkjet printer onto Bazzil Simply Smooth cardstock. I pretty pleased with the results. So, I hope this opens up some doors from you closet fine artists!
I"ll have to work on some card designs and techniques for next month here very soon! Remember, I'm open to suggestions!
Have a fabulous weekend!

Until next time,
Jodi

A Crabby Good Morning!

Hello all!
I guess we're awaiting round 2 of the storms this evening. The hail that fell down in Centerville etc, was more the kind of thing we'd see in New Mexico - holy cow!
Anyway, we'll be working on a cute little hermit crab for our June Copic class. The more I think about the more I'm wondering if it should be called a technique class - we've mainly been concentrating on blending and I have thrown a little technique here and there. We've been mainly building up our little collections.(well okay, some of us don't have little collections and we all know who we're talking about here.) So, what do you think we should maybe call them instead? Post me your thoughts. Also, are there any techniques Copic or otherwise you're interested in learning? Send me those requests as well - I'm always up for a challenge and a mess! I know I will be having a Shadows and Shading class (TBA) for those of you who would like to understand what I mean when I start talking about a "light source" and you're be able to give more depth to your work. Keep an eye peeled for that one.
As a quick reminder, if you would like to sign up for any of Scrap 'N Friends classes, give us a call at the store at 937-833-2600, email us at scrapnfriends@excite.com or shoot me a message - we'll get you signed up. There will be a Copic beginner class scheduled for July if you haven't had a chance to take it yet and have wanted to. Please, please, please, help us out with our class planning and if you have signed up for a class and can't make it or you'd like us to give you a call to remind you of a class that you have signed up for please let us know - it helps us a great deal to know how much prep we need to do ahead of time and keeps class cost down as well.

Okay, I've rambled  on long enough - have a wonderful and relaxing Memorial Day weekend!

Until next time,
Jodi

Our cute little crabby is an Inkadinkadoo stamp and also comes with the title. We will be using R32, R35, R37, BG0000, BG10 and BG15. The colorless blender is also a good idea if you don't have one already.

I'm Certifiyable!

Well we all knew that didn't we? I am now a Certified Copic Designer/Instructor! Whoo Hoo! What a great class it was as well. I feel so knowledgeable in all things Copic! Colleen Schaan was so energetic and full of great tips and information - I'm really gun-ho on getting me some more stamps and markers (like I needed an excuse before right?) Now I have to patiently wait for the Intermediate class to roll around her again, that looks like and incredible class. And you all know how I love "prizes" I have a groovy certificate (which will be framed of course) and I will have a blinky to add to my blog here saying I know what I'm doing.

Moving on, our next month's regular technique class will be painting with Perfect Pearls. I know - what can't you do with Perfect Pearls. At least that's how I'm starting to think of them. We'll make a sparkling patriotic card using Distress Stains, embossing powder, great star stamps by Inkadinkadoo and of course Perfect Pearls! You can sign up for this or any of the great classes offered at Scrap 'N Friends by giving us a call at 833-2600. emailing me at jelamdesign@frontier.com or the store at scrapnfriends@excite.com

Hope to see you there!

Until next time, enjoy that sunny weather!

Congrats to the Grads!

These 2 little graduate cuties are now available in the form of graduation card kits at Scrap 'N Friends in Brookville. The little grads (both fabulous stamps are by The Greeting Farm) are stamped, but not colored in so you can pick your gal or guy and make them their school colors. Use your Copics, colored pencils, watercolors, whatever you feel. Simple but a nice personal touch to give that special grad. And only $2!
Just a reminder, there's still a few spots open for the Copic "Beeutiful Cupcake" class on Tuesday, May 24th at 12:30 or 6:00 p.m. Give us a buzz and get in on this fun class soon - there are marker requirements for the class, the sooner you sign up, the easier it will be to make sure we get your markers in time for the class.
Hope you can stop by and check out all wonderful KOWs (Kits of the Week), Technique and other great classes and most importantly - I know all you folks out there that need stuff for the Washington DC trip, we've got you covered there too!
Until next time - enjoy this gorgeous day!

Feliz Cinco de Mayo Amigos!

Sorry I couldn't resist - I could resist this adorable digi stamp from The Greeting Farm either! She's Chibi Spanish. Digi stamps are something knew I've gotten into a bit. They're very versatile and take up no space (except on your hard drive)

Anyway have a Margarita for me!

Until next time,
Jodi

Salute!

Isn't she adorable!? I love stamps for the Greeting Farm! Too cute! She's from the Cheeky Collection and really looks a bit more vintage than I have her but I thought she was too patriotic to pass up. I ran the cardstock thru my fabulous Texture Boutique using the Stars and Swirls template and them sanded it (I LOVE my Tim Holtz sander). She needed to be sitting on something so why not a star. I colored her with Copics. I colored the sparkly stars around her with Copics as well. (LOVE those Copics!)
Hope you enjoy!
Until next time,
Jodi

P.S.

For whatever weirdo reason (it's probably me), folks haven't been getting email when I post something new. That said, if you would like to be notified by email when there's a new post, let me know and I'll hook you up. I do know that it posts on Facebook, but I know not everyone is on there.
Later!

Beeutiful!

Oh my gosh, I never realize how much I miss my computer until I have to take it in for a "check up". They're very quick at getting it back to me, but I must admit I feel a bit lost without it. I mean how am I supposed to check Jenna's grades!? LOL
Anyway, I was informed there was some disappointment because I haven't posted every week - I will do my best to try to keep up and do this (bunch of slave drivers - just kiddin, and you know who you are.)
So, without further adieu, here's what I'm planning on for Copic "Technique" class in May - Beeutiful Cupcake. I love this stamp - it's great for any kind of birthday or celebration. We'll bee using V000, V12, B00, B02, C7, C9, Y15 and Y17 to color our little cutie in. I believe the stamp is by Stampendous. The markers and the stamp are both available thru Scrap 'N Friends. If you'd like to take the class give us call at Scrap 'N Friends 833-2600, email us at scrapnfriends@excite.com or you can email me at jelamdesign@frontier.com and I'll get you in the book. Just let us know whether you prefer the afternoon or evening class and which markers you need. The stamp and the markers are both 20% off when you take the class.
Until next time!

Screens, Spritz and Butterflies - Oh My!

I've been working very hard to get ahead on my class schedule - so far so good! Here's what we'll be doing in my regular technique class on May 3rd. I love, love, love these Spritz Screens by Hampton Art. We'll be using the Graphic 45 Vintage collection. You can do lots with screens, use them with Smooch Spritz, Glimmer Mist, Chalks, inks. You can even us them as a stamp! When you sign up for the class you can also sign up to get the Spritz Screens (there's 10 5x5 screens in the box) and/or the stamp set - Patterned Bugs by Inkadinkadoo and to top it off you'll get 20% off both when you take the class! We have a great time in class and learn lots, so I hope you can plan to join us. To reserve you spot, just give us a call at Scrap 'N Friends 833-2600, email us at scrapnfriends@excite.com or email me (jelamdesign@frontier.com) or leave a comment here. Space is limited and we try to get the ordered stamps etc. in for the class so let us  know as soon as you can. Also, if you have signed up for a class (for any of our classes) and find you can't make it, please let us know. We have to make up the class kits and order products based on you telling us you want to take the class and/or get the product. Knowing ahead of time what we need to get allows us to offer more classes and keep them inexpensive for you.
As a quick update, there is still some spots open for Copic Beginner Class next Tuesday, April 12, at 6:00. Come find out what's so special about Copic Markers and learn some of the blending techniques you'll need for the Copic Technique Class. The class is $9, but you get a FREE Copic Marker as well.

Hope to see you there!

Until next time,
Jodi

Swimmin With The Fishes

Happy first day of Spring Break - yea right. Anyway, I actually got to mess around a little and and play with my markers and some of the new stamps I got. I had the idea for this card as soon as I saw the stamp. She's soooo cute! She has a little otter friend too named "Otto" appropriately enough. It's an acrylic card, and I airbrushed the background with Copics as well as colorizing the single pearls and the little mermaid chickie. After the background colors dried, I took the colorless blender solution, put it in a Mini Mister and sprayed it, that how I got the speckled look. She does have a name - Shimmer Redkelp, she's by C.C. Designs. All of the pearls are by Kaiser Craft. I cut the flourished one in half. The shell was cut out on the Cricut. I'm thinking this card will eventually be a class. We need to get a little further along in things before we dive into airbrushes etc. It'll be another thing you'll get hooked on. Just like the markers. Sorry, I've become a marker pimp. LOL! Just wait until you see what I'm working on for May's class. I've got all sorts of ideas rolling around!
Enjoy, and if you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave 'em.
Until next time,
Jodi
Isn't she lovely... I wanted you to be able to see that the card was acrylic, so you'll have to excuse some of the background. Colored Dew Drops would've looked nice as well as the pearls.

Cute and Fluffy Bunny

Now that the daisy class is over, I can post the bunnies now. ;-) Thanks to everyone that came to class yesterday, I hope you enjoyed and learned some groovy stuff.
So now, on to chocolate colored fluffy bunnies. Easter is coming up, so I was thinking a chocolate colored bunny would be more appropriate than gray - even though the gray bunny was awful cute. Anyway, the bunny stamp I used is by Inkadinkadoo, it's available thru Scrap "N Friends and we'll be using the "nasty rag" technique along with blending. Sorry, but there's no way to make that technique sound nice, but it works well. Markers required are E13, E17, and E19. G12, G14 and G16 are optional but recommended - if you want to have your bunny sitting in the grass. Of course the stamp and marker purchases for the class get 20% off. We'll make the cute cards below, both cards $5. As reminder, I usually have everything stamped, cute out and ready to go for you, however, as with all the classes, please make sure you bring scissors and adhesives, your basic toolkit and in the case of Copic Tech classes, the markers you need for class. Also, if you already have some or even all of the colors I've requested for class, you don't have to get them again. That's why I don't include them in the price of the class - I know some of you already have some of these colors. This is an easy way for you to slowly build your collection without breaking the bank, plus it allows me to keep the classes cheaper as well.
Remember, if you want to take a Copic Technique Class, you really need to take the beginner class - you learn several different blending techniques that are used frequently, plus you get a free marker! If you have any questions, let me know. You can post it here, email me or give me a call at Scrap 'N Friends (833-2600) I'd love to hear from you.
As everyone gets more confident in their blending, etc. we'll start doing more detailed work. Let me know work sort of pieces you're interested in doing, be it flowers, people, animals or even furniture!(LOL)
Until next time,
Jodi

P.S. I know the cardstock colors kind of scream at you - that really aren't that bright.

Come On, Follow Me

I know you want to! LOL. I'm going to start this out small. When we get the followers up to 30, I'll give away some blog candy - I know it's a small goal, but reachable I think, so go click that little button! Once we reach that, I'll let everyone know and I'll randomly pick someone.

Oh! And I have some very exciting news (at least for me). I've gotten registered, on the list and come May, I will be a certified Copic instructor (yes, I already know I'm certifiable LOL). I've very excited to learn even more about the what and the hows of Copics, so it'll be fun!

So for now, remember to click that "follow me" button!

Best,
Jodi

You're a Daisy if you Do!

Here's the samples of the 2 cards we'll be doing in the Copic Technique class for March using the flick/feathering technique. I'm having too much fun with these markers, they're wonderful! I'm officially addicted.
Enjoy!
Best,
Jodi

Come On Spring!

Wow! I can't believe I haven't posted since Feb. I've kind of been waiting though. I wanted to get March's regular technique class done, before I posted April's - Watercolor Window. It's a watercolor stamping technique and we'll be making it into a "shadow box" card. (it's pictured below.) I'm trying to get in a Spring frame of mind, even though it's rainy and yucky out. There's a few spots left, so if you're interested, give us a call at Scrap 'N Friends and we'll sign you up!
Also, I'm adding something new for the Copic Technique Class, I'll have those pictures for you soon. You will be able to take the class in the afternoon or evening on that Tuesday, whichever is more convenient for you. Plus, I can get more folks in that want to take it. So, that said, I do have some openings for March's class in the afternoon or if you've signed up for evening and the afternoon would be better, let us know at the store - 833-2600. I'll get the cards up so you can see what we'll be doing and explain a bit, in case you didn't get the store's newsletter.

Have a great remainder of the week - and with luck, I'll have more for you very soon!

Simon Says Stamp Challenge

Real quick, I didn't label them as such, but I have a couple of designs below for the DT Challenge. I'm going to put them here under this post. The distress look on the tag really lends it's self to the "coffee and cream" theme. (you have no idea how appropriate the whole coffee and cream thing is for me)
Anyway, enjoy!
Best,
Jodi

I adore these new stamps! (Hampton Art, Graphic 45 "Time Flies and Tim Holtz Acrylic Stamps) Stamped on manilla tag with Tuxedo black ink, colored with Copic Markers and distressed with Tim Holtz Distress inks by Ranger.

My groovy little dino guy is from Close to My Heart (Dino Roar, retired), inked with Moca Mama by Powder Puff, he's colored in with various Copic Markers.

Copic Stuff

Hello All!

Well, I know you've all heard me go on about Copic Markers, now I'm finally getting around to posting some samples of things you can do with them. I've been having entirely too much fun "coloring" and now that I have my Copic Airbrush kit it's on! It does take some practice, especially if you're not familiar with using markers, blending etc, but once you do - look out, you'll be hooked. I'll do my best to post pics of upcoming classes at Scrap 'N Friends along with dates and times - if there's a class you want to take, call us at the store (833-2600) as soon as you can, they fill up fast.

I'm not looking forward to the yucky weather coming our way, but maybe that means I'll get some work done! I have a lot to try and catch up on in my books.

Enjoy the weekend!

Best,
Jodi
The background is airbrushed with Copics and stamped with flourishes by Autumn Leaves. The house is a set from Close To My Heart.

Add The fairy and butterfly are both from the new Graphic 45 "Once Upon a Springtime 3" collection by Hampton Art, the text and frame borders are both Tim Holtz by Stampers Anonymous. The ink on both tags are Tim Holtz Distress by Ranger Ink.

Happy Valentine's Day

Good Morning Everyone!
I'm so glad it's going to warm up a bit this week, it's about time - I'm so over snow and ice. I want to go outside and not worry about falling on my bum.We need the sun to come back out though.

Anyway, here's the card I designed for February's Technique Class I did at Scrap 'N Friends. We've got a full Copic Beginner's Class tomorrow evening (yeay!) There will be another beginner class on March 15th. I'm also hoping to start Copic Technique classes at the end of March if all goes at planned. I do know it will involve flowers. March's regular technique class will be heat embossing and "watercoloring". It sounds weird, but it's really cool. Hopefully, we'll have some samples up at the store very soon. Classes are at 6:00. Keep an eye out here for dates and prices. Maybe I'll get them posted here as well.

So, I hope everyone has a fab Valentine's Day and I'll have some more goodies up here soon.

Later!
Jodi
