Bombshell Hippity Hop Baby!

It's time for the Bombshell Stamps Hump Day Hop! We'll be hoppin the last Wednesday of the month, so check back, it'll be something different every time! This month's hop is HUGE! We have 17 amazing stops for you to take.

On April 22, 1923, a star was born. A star that we all know. A star that, without her, Bombshell Stamps may not even exist (if I may be so presumptuous). Who is it? None other than Bettie Page. What better month to pay homage to the Pin-Up Queen herself than the month of her birth? So for this hop, I want you to give Ms. Page some love. Make a project, any type of project, using her as inspiration. There are thousands of images to view, lots of quotes she has said, and others have said about her. Here are some photos of Ms. Page.

So now that you've seen her...let's see what kind of inspiration the participants have gotten from Bettie Page! Here's my take:
I used the "Bombshell Angel" set for my "Bettie" and colored her with Copics (of course!). The print paper is Black & Kraft Zebra by Canvas Corp. I used Karen Foster "Loopy Brads" for the corset look.
This was such fun, please stop by the other hoppers and leave some love!

Mary (Sparkly Engineer)http://sparkly-train.blogspot.com/

So get hopping! You have a lot of places to go, so don't waste a moment! Let's celebrate the beautiful and inspiring woman that is Bettie Page!

Until Next Time!Jodi ;-)

Baby Congrats!

Howdy Ya'll!

Just to warn you ahead of time, I don't and haven't done much in the way of baby stuff. I designed my daughter's birthday announcement and thanks you cards and I think that's as far as I eve went with doing baby cards. That said, can you guess what the Sweet Stamping Treats challenge is....wait for it....a baby card! LOL! I have been trying very hard to open myself up to more different things to color etc., especially when it comes to classes, not everyone digs what I pick (so if you have a suggestion speak up ya'll!). This ended up being a perfect project to challenge myself with. As Tim Gunn says I had to "Make it work." (I just love him)

So, for this perfectly purple baby inspired card, I used the kangaroo digi by Sweet Stamping Treats. I did it purple because A). it could be for a boy or girl and B). I wanted it to look sort of like a stuffed animal. I'm happy with the outcome, especially since I'm not a terribly "frilly" person. (bling is a different story all together.) My little kangaroo is colored in V000, V12, V15, and V17. I used BV11, BV13 and BV17 on the ribbon around it's neck. I added a little texture by taking some V15 and coloring it on a stencil brush and dabbing it on to make it look a little furry. I also colorized my twine using the BV15.

Enjoy and Until Next Time,
Jodi

Tattooed Butterflies

Good Morning once again!

It seems like it took me FOREVER to get this done. Ugh! Here's my take on April's Bombshell Sketch Challenge. Love love sketch challenges. For some reason, they seem a little easier to do, someone else plants the seed, but I get to make it a hybrid! (oh, I'm so clever - really?) Anyway, I used the butterflies from the "Butterfly Queen" set from the Bombshell gals. The print paper is by My Mind's Eye and of course, colored with Copics. I did things in a bit of a reverse order this time. Usually I color the image I want then find something to match, but I found the paper first. I keep forgetting I have these little 6x6 pads and mat stacks floating around.

My Copic recipes are as follows:
BG10, BG13, BG15, YR12, YR14, YG16, R22, R24, R27

Here's a link to the blog and the sketch so you can play along too!

On Cloud 9

Good Morning All!

Here's a looksie at May's Copic class. Being that coloring people and the like are one of my favorite things to do, we're going to work on this cute image by Stamping Bella - "Alteetude". We'll be able to focus on coloring hair. Now don't panic when you see the list of colors, most of you will have quite a few of them, in fact I'll (*) the ones we've used before and if you're off a number, it's still doable. However, we will be using my favorite "blond" combo and I know I haven't asked for those before.

This is what we're using: E000, E01*, E02*, E51, E53, E55, E40*, E42*, E44*, RV10, RV11, RV13, BG000, BG01. Now remember, if you're a number off it will still work, for instance, I know we've used E00 before on another project. If you don't want to get E000 that's fine, E00 will work it just won't be as much of a contrast. Same with the BG colors, that what was used for the clouds. Unless you want those colors for your fab Copic collection, just use the B000, etc. Make sense?

Hope to see you there! To sign up, give us a call at Scrap 'N Friends at 833-2600 to reserve your spot. Remember to let them know what markers you need on the list, whether you'd like the stamp itself and whether you want afternoon or evening on May 8th.

Update! The Technique Tag class on May 1st will also have an evening class, so if you'd like to take it, but couldn't come in the afternoon, join us in the evening!

Also, I want to remind everyone that on May 5th, Scrap 'N Friends will be holding a National Scrapbooking Day event at the Brookville Community Center from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. $25 gets you 12 hours of crop time, breakfast, lunch drinks, snacks and raffle tickets for great door prizes! This will be a fantastic girl's day out plus you'll be supporting the American Cancer Society. Proceeds from this crop will be donated to the Team Danimal Relay-For-Life team. See you there!

Until Next Time!

Howdy Ya'll

Howdy!
As you may or may not have noticed, there's a couple of new badges on my blog. One I'm particularly proud of - I have been asked to be a Guest Design Team member for Bombshell Stamps, which makes me a pin-up (love that!)! I get to be Ms. August! Woo Hoo! You really must, must, must check them out. Especially if you like retro, pin-ups or tattoos. They're all so fun! I've used their stamps (it was actually a digi) before, my "I miss you" card with the geisha. This card was created using "Western Gal" and "Wanted Poster". The background is the blended spritz and flick technique using Distress Inks.
The Copic recipe is as follows:
Skin: E000, E01, E02
Scarf: BG10, BG13, BG15
Hat: E51, E53, E53
Wanted Poster Parchment: E40, E42, E44
Rope: E30, E31, E33
Enjoy!
Until Next Time,
Jodi

Technique Tags!

Okay, I know I'm probably being a bit of a copy-cat with this however, I think it's a fab idea and will be helpful to all my techie friends out there. Beginning in May, I will be starting a Technique Tag class. Why tags? Well, they can be put on a ring and hung up put in your bag etc. The idea is to have these little samples handy so you remember what you did and what you did it with. Each month we'll do at least one tag (possibly more depending on the technique) and when we're done we'll put a label on the back with the technique, what we used to make it and a space for you to write your colors down, so if you like your combos, you can recreate it. Now, I cannot take the credit for this wonderfully-fabulous idea - that goes to Mr. Tim Holtz. In taking his Creative Chemistry class I've learned a few things and remembered how you did something is sooo important. I mean how many times have you come across something you've done in a class, but you don't remember how and with what it was made. Well now you will. :-) So, if you're interested in making a techniquey mess with me give Scrap 'N Friends a call at 833-2600 and sign up. I haven't forgotten all my evening class friends. If I get enough interest in having an evening class I will, so when you sign up, let the gals at the store know. If I have at least 3 it'll be a done deal. :-)
Have a wonderful Easter Weekend!
Until Next Time,
Jodi

Easter Wishes

Happy Easter Everyone!
This Easter card brought to you by me and Sweet Stamping Treats... I know I'm hilarious. I used the Easter Wishes digi, adorable I must say. And this time I didn't use Bo Bunny paper it's all Close To My Heart! I know it's a shock since I've had so much love for the bunny and DCWV. You should hop on over to SST and check out the other cute Spring and Easter digis.
And now for the Copic Color Recipes.....
The Eggs: RV10, RV11, RV13, Y02, Y06, Y08, V01, V12, and V15
The Ribbon is V012, V15, V17
The Background for the Eggs, B000, B01
The Scalloped border is BG000
The Flowers: YR61, YR65, YR68
