Baby It's Cold Outside

Hi All!

This month has been a bit strange in the way of weather - we have snow one day and 62 degree weather the next. Our head Hop Bombshell Gal Allison, decided to make this month's theme "Baby, it's Cold Outside." Make a winter themed project, use the title of the hop as a sentiment, dress your Bombshell up in warm clothes (or not!), etc. I found this a bit tricky, but as Tim Gunn would say, "this is a make it work moment". I went with the title of our little hop -

This could almost be a Valentine card. Anyway, I did a resist with Distress Inks for her snowy background and used red to "warm it up." Used the always versatile Bombshell Angel for my image.

Now it's your turn to play along leave some artsy love and visit the other Bombshells for your chance to win a stamp set. Your next stop is Kelli!

New Release Day 2 Blog Hop

Hi All!

Today is day 2 of the blog hop...if you missed yesterday go back and check out what the
DT has created with these fabulous images! And for a chance to win of course!
This month the images Lindsay created are a new take on some old characters and she sassified them!
The theme this time around is....Going Forward....Looking Back!
We each made a project using one or more of the following favorite of ours of 2012...
Favorite Sassy saying or sentiment
Favorite tool to use
Favorite paper
Favorite sketch
Favorite technique
Favorite style
Favorite color
Favorite brand
Favorite embellishment....ribbon, flower, bling, mesh etc...
And we each chose a favorite project of ours that we made during 2012. Please follow along the blog hop and meet the 4 new Sassy Villains!

Here it is, better late than never. Ugh! I get to use "Gaston Honey"  and I used a bunch of favorites - Copics, dies.... I have to say, Gaston never looked so good. I only wish I had, had a die with antlers, because ya know he uses them in all of his deocrating... "My what a guy....Gaston!"

My favorite Sassy piece from 2012 has to be my "Count Your Blessings" card I did using "Briar Rose Honey", this one had a lot of work in it. That was a tough decision.

 This is the hop order

Prizes:
2 randomly selected comments will be picked each day to win 2 images, there will be 1 randomly selected winner each day of the hop to win all 4 images. These will be picked from comments left through out the hop! To be eligible to win you must comment on each blog for that day and comment on the SSD blog!

The winners of both hops will be posted on Wednesday the 30th.

Have fun and enjoy! Once again, sorry about the delay.

Until Next Time,

Gettin Sketchy and an Apology

Hi All!

Woo Hoo! 3 Days in a row! And I'm even at a crop this weekend - I can multi task when I want to. This week's Krafty Krew Challenge is to Get Sketchy 2! These are some of my favorite challenges, I don't have to think too much about how I'm going to put things together. I feel like I almost when a little over-board with layers etc on this one....

This is Mae Western (love her!), she's colored with Copics and I've gone crazy with layers and pop dots! The print paper is Bo Bunny and those are windows cut out of the embossed background, which I've pop dotted. I cut the stars out on the Cricut and adhered those to the background with pop dots. Then I fussy cut Miss Mae out and you guessed it - I pop dotted her! The little antiqued copper brads are by Close To My Heart. I think the card is 1/2 inch thick, so I guess it won't be going in the mail. I don't think I'd giver her to anyone but my hubby and he can't take it to work, she's too "cheeky". LOL

This weeks first sponsor is Kenny K's Downloads

The prize from Kenny is the winner's choice of 5 digi's.

And our second sponsor this week is

is

TBC

Embellish you make as much as you like but we must still be able to recognise the sketch!

Now it's your turn! Zip on over to Kenny K's Krafty Krew and check out all the inspiration the DT has put together. Make sure you add your creation to the inlikz at the bottom of the blog post for your chance to win fabulous prizes!

Now for the apology. I completely blew it today, Sassy Studio Designs is having a release blog hop today and I completely forgot. I know I'm a dork. In trying to schedule things this weekend, knowing I wouldn't be around I biffed and didn't write it on my calendar so I didn't get anything done. Please make sure you check out the gorgeous creations that other Design Team members have made for the hop and get entered to win!

I will do my best to have something posted later today or tomorrow. Again, my apologies.

Have fun and good luck!

Until Next Time!

Sweet!

Hi All!

I thought I'd post this sweet little Spring card - especially since we have snow here, I'm soooooo ready for warm weather and getting outside! Presenting an oldie but a goodie - Cheeky Rockabilly by the Greeting Farm. I love all the Cheeky Cherry collection, they're so darn cute, but of course I have yet to find a set from them that wasn't cute.

I love her red hair - that's become a fav. She's colored in Copics, the print paper is Bo Bunny (another fav) and the polka dots are a Cuttlebug embossing Folder.

I'm entering this in a couple challenges:

The Greeting Farm - Double Take Tuesday
Simon Says Stamp - Known For Challenge

Enjoy!

Until Next Time,

Here we are again with more of "my style". Typically, I like to do pretty simple and clean designs so the art is shown off more, but I can't resist my dies, embossing folders and BLING!

She's colored with my other favorite thing - Copics! There's several dies in that mess - one's a Spellbinder's and the other's a flourish by My Favorite Things. The embossing folder is a bookplate by Tim Holtz for Sizzix. The bling is from Close To My Heart.

Have fun!

Miss Anya

Hi All!

Here's a quick little cutie for ya! I totally adore the Greeting Farm's stamps - they're soooo cute. They're the first stamps I ever got to start coloring with my Copics. This one comes from a Miss Anya set, she's dressed for the rain in this one -

This is for the Blue and Yellow challenge. With all the other craziness going on around my house, I'm glad I had time to do some extra projects. Who knows. There could be more to come.....

Sk8tr Sassy

Hi All!

Welcome to Freebie Friday with Sassy Studio Designs! This week we've got something excellent (although it is every week) - Skater Sassy! She's available for the next 24 hours on PCP (click here). Here's this week's challenge: What's Your Style? Use a technique or a style you love and tell us a bit about it. This challenge will run for 2 weeks. Make something fabulous and post it on the PCP for a chance to win!

So here are the rules... Create any project that features a Sassy Studio Designs image and wait - there's no rules! Remember you MUST use a SSD image to play along, bonus points if you use one of the freebies, of course. So grab the freebie, and we hope you'll play along!!
  • You MUST use a Sassy Studio Designs image
  • A bonus entry will be given to anyone who uses either this week's or next week's freebie image
  • You MUST create a project based on the current challenge
  • You have until 11:59pm EDT on January 24th to upload your creation here (the PCP), under this discussion,on Fabulous Freebie Friday
  • You may enter as often as you wish during the two week period
  • The prize is two Sassy Studio Designs images of the winner's choice
So, what's my style you ask? Well, if you've been following along for a while, you know that Tim Holtz is my hero! I created my background using one of my favorite techniques - blending with Distress Inks and stamping with Distress Stains. Sassy's wings are gunge board covered with Picket Fence Distress Stain and Rock Candy Distress Stickles and the skull and cross bones are gunge board as well sans Stickles. She colored with Copics. :-)

I scanned her in this time, I don't normally because I think it looks too flat (Ha, ha) but because of all the water etc. I used on it, it's a bit more wrinkly than I like and I couldn't flatten it enough. Grrr. I guess I literally should have taken the iron to it. It'll get flat eventually.

Now it's your turn! See ya on the PCP!

Until Next Time!

My Bombshell Valentine

Hi All!

Good Morning! It's time for our lovely Ms. January's challenge. Jenn Borjeson is Bombshell's Ms. January! Her challenge theme is Heartbreaker. She wants you to get in the mood for Valentine's Day by thinking about hearts, love, music, song lyrics, poetry, and literal broken hearts.

Now, keep in mind, Valentine's is not one of my favorite holidays ever, but I do like how this turned out - with a little help from my friends (thank you Pam, Ann and Jaci, such fun gals!) who happily gave suggestions on this one.

The stamp is Scared Heart ( love it!), colored with you guessed it - Copics! I used and embossing folder for the background of the card and the heart (Pam, I couldn't remember the name of the folder help!) I colored white satin ribbon with my Copics to match the rest of the card.

Join us won't you? Create a card in the tune of Valentine and add your link at the bottom the the Bombshell's Blog post for your chance to win a stamp set!

Good luck!

Until Next Time,

Miss Fortune is colored with Copics, the red background is a Cuttlebug embossing folder from the Rock Princess set. The lace-up brads are Karen Foster and the wings, token and pin are all Tim Holtz. Oh, and those cute little skulls are by Recollections. :-0

Double the Fun!

Hi All!

Happy Friday! This seemed like such a looooong week. I guess because things are starting to get back to normal (whatever that is). I have 2 fun things for you today - Fabulous Freebie Friday and a Bombshell's tutorial - see you thought Christmas was over LOL.

First the Friday freebie! Check out Sassy Studio Designs on Paper Craft Planet and pick up a FREE Sassy Studios image (click here), it will only be available 24 hours. Our challenge for this fortnight is to use something from your stash! And welcome to week 2! Our gal "Cheerful Chelsea" is this weeks digi:

The card base is something I came across the other day (I used it again), I really like the size. The print paper is DCWV I've had hanging around for a while. So, you don't have to go out and get something new to work with, although it is fun. I'm sure there's ton of fabulous things you already have that you can use to create something wonderful.

  • You have until 11:59pm EDT on January 17th to upload your creation here, under this discussion, on PCP (apparently I can't look at a calendar right - I just noticed I had the wrong date again last week - grrrrrr.)
  • You may enter as often as you wish during the two week period
  • The prize is two Sassy Studio Designs images of the winner's choice
Next up is the tutorial. Most of you know I teach a technique tag class and Tim Holtz is probably my favorite inspiration. That said, I thought this technique really lent itself to Koi Tattoo. I've love this set ever since I first saw it and I'm so excited that I decided to use it for this.

Okay first here's what you'll need: a craft sheet, Distress Inks (various) and I does need to be Distress Inks because other inks don't do this technique as well, cardstock, Foam Blending Tools, a spritz bottle with water, Picket Fence Distress Stain and a stamp.

Using the foam blender and various distress colors, blend them on a piece of light colored cardstock. Start your blending on the craft sheet in a circular motion and move in toward the cardstock, this will help to keep from having the "hard"edge of the blending foam from showing up. Add color until you're happy with it.

Now take your spritz bottle with water and spray it in your hand and fling it, spritz it directly on the paper or however you want to to get various water spots on the blended inks. If you want you can speed up the drying time by using a heat tool.

Now for our last bit, shake up the Picket Fence Distress Stain really good and wipe it all over your stamp. (I used an oriental stamp and the waves from the Koi Tattoo set.) When you have it covered well, stamp in onto your background but don't press down hard, use very little pressure. To keep is more white, use the heat gun as soon as you stamp it, if you want it more faded, let it dry naturally.

Tada, you have your background! You can blur the white or fade it more using water as well. Remember though, this works best with Distress Inks and Stains.

And here's the finished piece.
I hope you give it a whirl!

Until Next Time,

P.S. Don't forget about the Kenny K digi  giveaway! Leave me a comment and you'll be entered to win 3 digi stamps from Kenny K - you have until 11:59 Saturday, Jan. 12.

Let's Get Sketchy!

Hi All!
Can you believe it's 2013?! Geez, things have moved so fast. So here we are - it's January and time for another fabulous sketch challenge from Kathi.  Here's January's Sketch!

Please feel free to flip it, flop it, and make it your own. Just as long as you use your Bombshell stamps and have fun with it, it's good!

Be sure to use the Inlinkz at the bottom of the Bombshell's Blog to share your creation with us AND have the chance to win the fabulous prize of a $20 gift certificate to the Bombshell Stamps store!

I really LOVED this sketch, but i usually do. I was so excited to use the Mi Amor set because my daughter has inspired me once again. As I've said before, she collects Monster High dolls. They recently came out with 2 new characters and one of these fab gals is called Skeleta Calaveres and she looks like a walking sugar skull! The skirt she wears even look like the brightly colored banners they use to decorate for Day of the Dead, so I borrowed a bit from Skeleta and any excuse to use anything sugar skull related rocks!

Mi Amor is colored with what else - Copics! and I used the medium rosette die by Tim Holtz as well as the "Rebel" embossing folder from the Rock Princess set by Provo Craft.

Have fun and good luck!

Until Next Time,

The card base has been hangin around my art room for a while too - I like the shape, I don't know why it's been here for so long with nothing done with it. Anyway here's Dianna....

Make it a Gift with Bombshells!

Hi All!

I know everything's a bit screwy - this hop was actually supposed to take place last Wed., but being that it was the day after Christmas, it was too crazy to try and get anything done, so we're doing it today instead! Happy New Year!

So here's our hoppy challenge this month - use your Bombshells to create a gifty item. Here again is another big challenge for me as I don't normally do these kinds of projects, but, sometimes you need to step out of that ol' comfort zone right? I created a key chain using Sugar Skulls which I embossed, then painted with Perfect Pearls, and added them to Tim Holtz fragments, key chain and baubles.

They'll look nice hanging from my purse or my keys. I haven't decided yet. :-)

Now it's your turn to hippty hop along with us and remember to leave some New Year's love - you could win a prize! Your next stop is the lovely Sparkly Mary!
