Live Inspired

Good Morning Everyone!
I thought I'd post another cute card using Make It Crafty stamps. I totally adore these things! I got me a whole mess of mermaids (or should it be a school?) and some cute little pixies. I know I must be nuts because yes, I did color every one of those swirls in the background. And not just one color they're all blended little blue families. It was difficult to refocus after that. (I fear I may need to get me some "cheaters" soon, it sucks getting old. LOL)
The color recipes are as follows:
Background: B000, B02, B04
The Shell: R20, R21, R22, R81, R83
Skin: E00, E01, E02,
Hair: E07, E08, E19
Fins: Y32, YR65, YR68
There's some Peach and Clear Spica thrown in there for a bit of sparkle on her fin and in her hair.
Enjoy!
Until Next Time,
Jodi

Time For Tea

Good Morning!
Ahhhh, It's spring break here! A bit of a bummer for me because I still have to work and I'm not getting to "play" as much as I'd like with the little diva-girl, but she's been very understanding and we took a nice long hike yesterday and had a great time.

Speaking of time, it's challenge time! This week's SST challenge was to create anything but a card. Totally out of my comfort zone, but I did it! I created this little pocket to but a sachet of tea in. I used my Basic Grey Sizzix pocket die and finally used by Tim Holtz Rosette die. (I actually made about 5 of the little buggers, it was so fun!) I used the Mother's Day Tea Pot digi from Sweet Stamping Treats, the print paper is by American Craft and colorized some paper flowers. I used Y21, Y23, Y26 and there's a little B93 in there as an accent. I probably should've taken a closer picture of the teapot itself - I colored it and when I was done I stamped a pattern on it with Colorless Blender. This was a very cool, easy technique I learned on the Copic marker website.
1. Color the image are that you want to use this technique on. Unless you want to do it on the entire image only color the part you're going to stamp on. Darker colors work better too.
2. Put some Colorless Blender on a sponge or in my case I used a foam blending square. Don't use a piece of felt or other cloth, the solution will dry up too fast.
3. "Ink up" your pattern stamp with the colorless blender and stamp it on the colored area. The longer you hold it there the more the color will be "pushed away" and the more bleached out it will look. (I used an "inchy" stamp by Inkadinkadoo.)
4. You can leave it as is or color it in with another color and not have to worry about the colors blending. After you're done you just continue to finish coloring the rest of the image. Since mine is yellow, its a bit more subtle, but it gave it a nice painted China look.
Give it a try, it's a lot of fun!
Until next time,
Jodi

Make It Crafty

Card Size: 5x7, Print Paper: DCWV, Cardstock: Coredinations, Xpress Blending Card, Dies: Spellbinders
Good Morning!
I thought I would share this card I worked up using a new digi by Make It Crafty - I love A LOT of their stamps. I've always been a big anime fan, so I tend to be drawn to stamps etc. that have that look (get it - "drawn", I'm so funny.) These folks are from Australia (one place that I would love to go) and they have lots of fun designs. I first discovered them thru Colleen Schaan - (holla - she's fab!), she's used their work several time here recently, so I just had to check them out myself! They're doing a Store Design Team call right now, which is one of the reasons I did this card in the first place (PICK ME! :-). I have another design up sleeve, but I wanted to make sure I got this one up just in case something weird happens and I don't get my other project done.
So I hope ya'll enjoy!
Until Next Time,
Jodi

Designer's Choice and a Winner!

Hola everyone! It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, I'm going to try and get as much work done so I can work a bit outside and maybe become a bit less pale. This weather has been fab!
Anyway, first things first, the winner of the referral contest is.... Judy! (Scrappin Nana). Judy if you would, send me an email and your choice of digi stamp by Sweet Stamping Treats and we'll get that to you. And thank you to all who participated. :-)
Print paper by Bo Buuny, Prism cardstock, Red Viva Decor Pen for accents and DMC red floss.

Now, on to today's challenge. Okay it really wasn't a challenge because it was Designer's Choice week with my friends at SST! I created this bright birthday card using the "Kate Celebrates" digi. I LOVE coloring balloons, I know it sounds goofy, but it's fun to create the transparency with the balloons, and it's really simple to make them more realistic looking. I also decided to get out my "Sew Easy" - something I decided I HAD to have, but haven't really done anything with. I'm not 100% sure it was "sew-easy". Then again, I'm not the world's best at sewing, my cross stitching was never as pretty on the back as it was on the front (which is what I thought mattered anyway), so I wasn't sure how this was going to work. The Bo Bunny paper I used is pretty think and you really have to push down to go thru 2 pieces to sew them together. All in all I don't think it looks too bad, little more practice won't hurt though.
Anywho, here's the Copic recipe for Kate and her balloons:
Skin: E000, E01, E02
Hair: E23, E25, E27
Balloons: V15, V17, B02, B05 and YG03, YG05
Dress: YR02, YR04, YR07 and the trim is R22, R24, R27
The gift is: Y02, Y06 (I used the same reds for the bow as the trim in the dress)
I did do my weird outline thing around her in B000. (I love the little extra is gives to stuff on white)
So tada! That's it for today, go out and enjoy this beautiful weather, you can always bring your markers and your digis out with you!
Until next time!

Mosaic Butterfly

Hello All! I hope you've all been able to enjoy some lovely spring weather like we have. Winter? What's that? LOL.
We'll be using Distress Inks, glassine, gungeboard, and perfect pearls.
I thought I'd share next month's Technique Class with everyone. Tim Holtz recently did this on his 12 Tags of 2012 and I fell in love with it! And it's sooooo easy! I love the stepping stone look of the butterfly. I hadn't gotten out the glassine and grungeboard for a while, so this was perfect. I don't want to give anymore away, let's just say, it's a great way to put some small scraps to good use. That said, come get messy with us Tuesday, April 3 at 12:30, Scrap "n Friends. $3 makes the card, you will need to bring some scissors and adhesive. Give us a buzz at 833-2600 and we'll get you all signed up.
Hope to see you there!
Until Next Time,
Jodi

Happy St. Patrick's Day

The sketch can be found at Sweet Stamping Treats. Card size is 5.5x5.5
Top 'O The Mornin' To Ya!

This week my Sweet Stamping Treat is my take on our sketch challenge. I really liked the sketch so I didn't deviate much from it. I used this really fun St. Patrick's Day Wreath digi (very cute!). It's part of the March release and is available on the SST blog. Digi's are such a great way to build up your collection and an inexpensive way to get material to practice your Copic coloring, especially when you're just starting out. The paper and clover stickers are both by Reminicse, Coredinations cardstock and Copic markers. I promise to be better about giving my Copic coloring recipes for my projects. In this caseYG21, YG23, YG25, G40, G43, and G46 for the clovers and the main green part of the wreath, C5, C7 and C9 for the pot, Y21, Y23 and Y76 for the gold, B02, B04, B06 for the blue ribbons, R24, R27 and R29 for the red part of the rainbow, Y02, Y06 and Y08 for the yellow part of the rainbow and finally B23, B24 and B26 for the blue part of the rainbow. The hemp twine is colored with YG25. I did ink the edges this time using Green Tea Powder Puff ink.

Now that you've seen what I did, why don't you give one a whirl yourself and post it at Sweet Stamping Treats and share your creation you could win 3 digis for your efforts! I can't wait to see what you come up with.

And don't forget, to let us know what your favorite Sweet Stamping Treat is! All you have to do is head over to Sweet Stamping Treats and take a look through their stamps. Links to the entire line of digital stamps are located on the right sidebar of the blog. Pick the stamp you like best, follow their blog, then come back here to my blog and comment on which stamp is your favorite! And when SST gets to 200 followers there will be more prizes given away!

I will pick one winner from of the comments on this post to win the digital
stamp that you commented about. You must be a follower of both my blog and SweetStamping Treats to win. Winner will be announced on March 20th

Graduation

Good Morning...
I don't know about where you are, but here it's raining, but somewhat springlike. It's hard to believe the end of the school year is rapidly approaching! While I had a few minutes, I thought I'd post our class for next month Copics. We're only doing one card this time, but it's larger than our usual and has a little pocket on the inside for a gift card etc. for the grad. This image is pretty detailed, so it's going to take a little while longer to color. That said, we're using YG41, YG45, G46 (new color), R35, R37, E23, E25 and it you want black diploma ribbons and mortarboards, N5 and N7. You can choose to do school colors instead, I have a list that we can work from so when you sign up, let me know what you're wanting to do. Just give us a buzz at Scrap 'N Friends at 833-2600 and we'll get you all taken care of. Please, please, please let us know what colors you want to use for hats and diplomas when you sign up so we can get you what you need if you don't have it. Remember the stamp (Graduation Tree by Impression Obsession) and the markers are 20% off with the class.
Hope to see you there!
Until next time,
Jodi
P.S. Class date for this one is Tuesday, April 10 at 12:30 or 6:00 p.m., however the evening class may have to be moved due to soccer practice, we'll see.....

Go Green!

Morning All!
This week's challenge was to use mostly green in our Sweet Stamping Treats project. I thought I'd try something that wasn't necessarily green - I used the dress form digi. I like the way it turned out, not to mention the fact that I adore my Yellow-Green Copic colors - they're so bright! This time I just used cardstock and used the Swiss Dot embossing folder and some ribbon. Hope you enjoy it!

Now on to some more fun!
What's your favorite stamp from Sweet Stamping Treats? If you don't know then go check them out because Sweet Stamping Treats is giving you a chance to win your favorite stamp!

I Miss You

Well, I don't what happened exactly, but this post didn't show in twitter feed this morning like it was supposed to, so I'm re-posting. Yes, it's gonna be here twice. Sometimes technology is so aggravating!
I hope it works this time.
Peek A Boo digi stamp by Bombshell Stamps, print paper by DCWV.
I've always loved pin-ups, Varga, Nagel, Oliva. (I know some of you may not know who these fab artists are - Nagel did the album cover for Duran Duran's "Rio".) I was thrilled when I came across Bombshell Stamps. Fun, tattoo/pin-up chicks and the like. I don't recall who first told me about them - you know who you are, and thank you. This lovely lady is a digi stamp from their collection - I plan on getting some more fun them. They've got motorcycles, hot rods and even some Mexican Day of the Dead stamps that are sooo different. They should do a Chinese dragon - that would be sweet! You should check them out when you get the chance!
It's nice to work on something a little more grown up sometimes.
She done in Copics, even the paper flowers are colored with Copics to give them a cherry blossom look.
This one goes out to my hubby - I miss you! Love ya babe!
Until Next Time,
Jodi  :-)

Happy Birthday!

Good Morning All!
This week's Sweet Stamping Treat's design request is a birthday card. I chose this cute little guy for my project. I wanted to use him when I first saw it, but until now, it just wasn't the right time. And he's perfect for this card. The print paper is by American Crafts. They've come out with some fun stuff lately. I've noticed I've been a little pop-dot happy lately as well. Of course my little fella is colored with Copics, but I'm sure I don't have to tell ya'll that. I tried to make this one a little more "boy" since I'm somewhat lacking pieces in that department. I don't really think about it since I don't have one. (well, the grown up acts like a little boy sometimes, but that doesn't count.)

It's almost time for the SST new releases as well, as more challenges, so stay tuned!
Thanks for stoppin by!
Until next time,
Jodi
